A huge congratulations to Darius as his smash debut country album Learn to Live surpassed the 500,000 in sales mark and has become RIAA-certified Gold! On this incredible achievement Darius said:

"I want to thank everyone at McGhee Entertainment and Capitol Nashville for all they have done to get us to this point," says Rucker. "Also, a huge thanks to Frank Rogers and all the writers on this record. Gold records are hard to come by these days, and I am proud of this accomplishment. Now let's get back to work!"

Before the debut album with Hootie & the Blowfish, I had the blessing of watching him with the group at some dusky venue on the circuit in North Carolina (don't ask me, I'm now middle aged with teenagers, and don't care to recall the details, thank you). He opened his mouth and I was hooked! I went back to Brooklyn (hometown) singing his (and the group's) praises, chest puffed out. Proud that I was the first in my circle (or NYC for that matter) to notice. The first day their album hit I bought 2 copies. I warped one and still own the other. I advocated at that time that he has a distinctive voice that paints, weaves with flourishes. That was before I savored his writing skills. Country completes you, Darius. Congratulations! I'm so thrilled to still be around to see you get yours! I always believed in your power to transcend folks, to appeal to all masses. Race and gender notwithstanding. Ok. now I'll get off your d*** and allow someone else to praise you.
